In order to understand the basics of SEO, let us try to understand the basic definitions of Search Engine Optimization, SEO first. Search Engine Optimization – SEO is the process of creating and spreading content on your website in a way that Google picks it up and shows it in top results. Basically first page. In my SEO guide, I have included a list of the common SEO terms and their meanings.
o Backlink – I am starting my SEO guide with the most important term of SEO i.e Backlinks. This is a link that helps improve the visibility of a website. Search engines like Google or Yahoo, look at the backlink as a basis to establish the popularity of a website.
o Search Engine – The World Wide Web is full of web pages where the search engine provides links to websites. These websites are usually listed based on the popularity of the specific keywords being searched by the users.
o Organic – Organic means that the SEO tips are being used without any pay per click advertisements. This is a bit tricky and again an important part of the SEO guide which needs to be focussed. These organic search engine optimization techniques help to reach the top rankings in the list of search results, and they do not require the use of a pay per click technique.
o Pay Per Click – PPC is an easy way to pay for targeted traffic, without having to spend time and effort on planning the keywords and keyword phrases. This SEO technique has been an effective and popular tool for many years now.
o Content – Content refers to the material written by a writer, whereas content is always related to the subject. Search engines like Google look at the contents as a way to understand the overall appeal of a website.
o Effective web design – Designing a website is not enough to optimize its ranking in the search engines. Many search engines like Google or Yahoo take note of how a website looks, as well as the complexity of the coding and image placement on the website.
o SEO Keywords – Again a leading term of my SEO guide Keywords. Keywords are the names given to search terms, which a user enters in the search bar. When Google, Bing, or Yahoo are searching for a specific product or service, they look for the keywords related to that item, and when they come across them, they will provide information related to the search, such as products and services that match the keyword.
o Google AdSense – AdSense is a way to bring clicks through the link of a website. This increases the popularity of the website, and therefore the web page ranking.
o Hidden text – This type of content is considered to be useful in SEO, as it has low competition. This type of content appears in search results, but the owner has to opt-in for it to appear in the listings.
Keywords play a huge role in SEO. Search engines like Google or Yahoo look at the number of keywords used in the website, and the complexity of the content.
